Jackson grew up in Arizona and got her start in dressage
with an unlikely partner, a 15.2-hand Tennessee Walker-
Quarter Horse mare named Maxine. The two competed
through Prix St. Georges, and Jackson’s To The Max Farm in
Cave Creek, Ariz., is named in honor of Maxine.
Though she said it can be frustrating when the nearest CDI
is at least seven hours away, Jackson, who rides with Charlotte
Bredahl-Baker and Steffen Peters and has competed at the
Grand Prix level, has no plans to relocate to a more conventional
region of the country.
“I did spend the two weeks out there trying to convince
my husband we should move to the East Coast,” she joked.
“But my family is here, and my husband’s family is here. I have
a great client base, just the best amateurs to work with out
here. It’s a group you wake up happy to see every day. We’ll
just keep traveling and trying to improve.
